Three weeks after getting visa, we went to Moscow. Incredible heat accompanied us, 17 July, when we left Volgograd, it was +40 C. It was dangerous to be under the sun. Weather in Moscow was the same, that is why all warm clothes: jeans and sweaters were at the bottom of luggage. Subsequently we realised we need them very much, despite the summer seemed to be warm.
We spent the night at our relatives and next day have moved to Paveletskiy railway station in order to get Domodedovo aeroport by Aeroexpress from here. Maybe there were another ways to get international Domodedovo terminal, but we decided not to push the luck. On rail ways there are no traffic jams! The cost of one-way ticket was 320 rubles (8 €) for a person. Ticket can be bought in advance and it is valid all day, so you can travel one time a day as you need. Train to aeroport leaves railway station every 30 minutes, the trip time is 45 minutes. In travel you can buy drinks, magazines and another touristic stuff, but prices are very high.
I was first time in Domodedovo aeroport. Besides I have travelled by air once: to Turkey last year, without considering my childhood's memoirs. Airoport, certainly, amazes us with big size. There are unlimited quantity of registration racks, ticket offices. Have entered the building, we passed security check and went to registration rack in order to hand over luggage.
The employe asked if we have boarding passes. Unfortunately we didn’t. All passengers should register themselves in special automats, get boarding passes and only then hand over luggage. We pretended we don't understand and asked the woman to register us manually. She did it after grumbling a bit. We had a lot of time before departure, so we found a place with good WI-FI signal level and spoke with our friends in Skype.
After that we went to passport control. Employes have checked our hand luggage and stamped our passports. One naive woman in queue tried to get with her a jar with jem, but it was not allowed. So she didn’t know what to do. We didn’t wait for the end of this story and went to Duty-Free. You can pay here both by credit card and by cash: rubles, euros, dollars.
Our waiting in aeroport ended: we have moved to departure hall and got aboard Boeing-737, Lufthansa company.
Now I am going to tell about german quality of service. Maybe, airoport services work bad or airplanes constructors do, but the end supplier for passengers is Lufthansa Company. After 3 minutes passengers took their seats, suddenly lights in airplane and air ventilation turned off. Pilot said something in german. After his words in English I understand, that one of electric generators is broken and airoport services will start to repair it. In addition after 5 minutes left, pilot said, that aircraft will be moved to special place, as next airplane is waiting for our terminal gate. At small speed, accompanied by service specialist, our plane was moved to backend of Domodedovo airport, where we should wait until aircraft is repaired.
It took about 30 minutes, all this time we were in stuffy plane, flight attendants gave us plastic cups with cold water. It should be said, that the first impression about Lufthansa was not very good. We have taken off from Moscow with a 45 minutes delay.
Also I want to tell you about meal aboard. As Ira told me about her last trip, in Aeroflot plane there were several dishes to choose. This time we had no choice, there was pasta with vegetables, which I don’t like at all. I am not a vegetarian, so it would be better to have chicken or fish.
We were amused by special jars of water, in which I usually find jelly or mayonnaise. When we saw it, we didn’t understand quickly, that it is just water. We drank it later, in Germany. As we travelled 2 hours, I could see clouds and roads with cities between them…
