While still in Russia, in addition to Berlin, we decided to visit a town near the capital of Germany. The choice was between Dresden, Leipzig and Magdeburg. After a bit of reflection unanimously decided to visit the capital of Saxony - Dresden. Us he drew ancient architecture and plenty of locks.
Dresden is located south of Berlin for 170 kilometers. Carfare is 9 € per person one way. However, we found a more interesting option - the movement of the train. The fact that Germany is very varied pricing of the tickets. One option is a good save "Ticket Weekend." It is a document that allows a group of up to 5 people including travel by suburban trains RE (Regional Express) in a single day, you only need to enter one of the tourists in the ticket itself. The cost of this option of movement - 38 €. The fare for a direct train Berlin - Dresden was 19 €, by simple calculations, you can calculate the savings - 50%! Of course, this approach also has disadvantages: we had to do a transplant, and the path took about 4.5 hours there and the same back. Agree, for a distance of 200 kilometers is a lot. Direct train ICE (Inter City Express) for comparison overcomes almost the same way for 2 hours.
Early in the morning we were at the main train station in Berlin waiting for the train, which arrived right on schedule. Tourists from Asia, took us for local residents, in broken German, asked here whether the train to Leptsig. We pointed out to him on the adjacent track, where the electronic scoreboard, this really highlights the terminal station. Nothing more to help young traveler could not.
Having taken place on the second level in a comfortable two-story train, we placed her things on the four seats. I must say that travelers were few and nobody can disturb the request to make room. Ride in a "train" was a pleasure: the seats next to a small table, beneath a small, but quite roomy dumpster, and the train was going very smoothly: the sound of wheels was almost inaudible. Each car is a bio-toilet, running and during stops. With sadness I remembered domestic commuter trip with wooden or plastic benches and a complete lack of any comfort on the road.
Soon we were approached by the conductor of the car, it is the same controller. Asked the ticket, Officer Deutsche Bahn carefully examined him and said something to us in German. From the first time he could not understand, but then we found out that a ticket is necessary to enter a tourist - "team leader." Delay, we thought whom write on the ticket. Taking matters into their own hands and write their own name and get out of the mouth of the conductor approving remark: "The Chief" Well, today I'm chief!
As I said, we had to change trains in Cottbus (Cottbus), which is literally on the border with Poland (about 20 kilometers). Signs at the railway station here are duplicated in a second language, most likely Polish.
You want us to train, not as comfortable as the previous one, was waiting passengers: putting things go walk around the station. Just like everywhere else: MC Donalds, some less famous cafes, and, of course, bike parking nearby.
In the route of the train hooked football fans - all in bright yellow T-shirts and scarves around the neck. Their number increases as you get closer to Dresden, but the passengers of this did not suffer: fans kuchkovalis in platform and for some reason did not pass on the train. Thus, the two of us again took four seats and comfortably reached Dresden. At the station, we were greeted by large groups of police officers - apparently in the city today is a big football game.
